Book Review: Opposition (Lux #5)

Katy knows the world changed the night the Luxen came.

She can’t believe Daemon welcomed his race or stood by as his kind threatened to obliterate every last human and hybrid on Earth. But the lines between good and bad have blurred, and love has become an emotion that could destroy her—could destroy them all.

Daemon will do anything to save those he loves, even if it means betrayal.

They must team with an unlikely enemy if there is any chance of surviving the invasion. But when it quickly becomes impossible to tell friend from foe, and the world is crumbling around them, they may lose everything— even what they cherish most—to ensure the survival of their friends…and mankind.

War has come to Earth. And no matter the outcome, the future will never be the same for those left standing.

Now you can see them all together.

We last left Katy and Daemon as they just escaped from the research center in Arizona and after they revealed to the world that they are aliens in Las Vegas. Now, they are on the run and looking to not get caught and taken in.

Reading a series’ finale is bittersweet. Especially if it’s something you love. Especially if the book is about Daemon Black. Sigh. I’ve waited for this for a year, I believe, and I’ve read it for I think three days more or less. I really took my time. I don’t want to say goodbye to the series. Just yet. Sniff. Anyway, I was quite surprised how the story turned out. When I’ve finished Origin, I was thinking how Jennifer would pull off the finale. I’m scared for her actually. In most cases, alien invasion is not something that you could easily throw in without thinking on how you can come back to that. Surprisingly, Jennifer did a great job! This is one epic series! I can’t think of any other way this series could have ended. This is just so perfect. In everything. The writing. The twists. The resolution. The romance. The friendship. The villains. The epilogue. Oh the epilogue. Did I already mention THE Romance? Ha! Ha! This never failed to surprise me all the freaking time.

The writing is wonderful. Extra ordinary. I find myself feeling raw emotions from every pages. I think that’s really important for authors to take note of. How their readers would only not read the book, but to feel it. I felt all emotions from all characters. The love, hate, fury, lost and everything that comes in between. I’m caught in a riot of feelings inside me while reading this. The plot is in a fast pace. Like never a dull moment. A lot is going on. This book is action-packed and yet hilarious. I love it. Every character is not shadowed by another. I must admit there are unsurprising events, but those are just little things you could easily forget about.

I also love the fact that it’s in a dual POV. I like reading about Daemon’s and Kat’s sweet way of making room for each other amidst all the chaos. You should really read it so you can grin like an idiot while reading this part of my review -Don’t worry. I’m grinning like an idiot while writing this- I so love Katy. She’s brave and super kick ass. Then, there’s my Daemon. Oh my Daemon. He has matured into someone I would want to marry myself. Sigh. There is a part where Jennifer let us see glimpses about Luc, but I would want to read more about him. There is Hunter’s part with the Arums that’s so thrilling. Dee’s fight to regain her self control. Archer and Dee moments. I would also love to read more about Dawson, Beth and their baby. Sigh. I will love the characters on this book forever.

This is definitely an awesome reading experience. The series would always be special to me. I’m so recommending this to all book lovers out there. Certainly something you wouldn’t want to miss.

I’m already sulking in a corner thinking that I couldn’t just get enough of this when Jennifer posted a Special Thank You post on her blog that includes a scene years after the invasion. I literally squealed like a lunatic. Click the link..

A Special Thank You
