February Random Reads 2015

Random ReadsThis is where we pick a random book from our shelf to read within the month. Feel free to do more than one, but since a lot of people have a lot of books to read, only one is “required” for the meme.

How to join on Random Reads?

You can either use Random.org, eeny, meeny, miny, moe or you can simply close your eyes and point randomly at a book in your shelf. Easy Peasy 😀

Random ReadI’ve had this book sitting in my shelf for ages now and because of my tendencies to read what’s new, I incline to forget what I’ve scheduled to read. Yeah. Bad habit. I’m so glad I’ve found this meme that I could choose randomly. In addition, because of this meme I’ve got to realize I have these books sitting there unnoticed. Like always, I’ve chosen to close my eyes and pointed randomly at a book in my shelf. Lazy is an understatement. Lol! This is what I’ve got.. 😀

Name: Shadow and Bone
Leigh Bardugo
Number of Pages:
358 pages in Hardcover
June 5th 2012
by Henry Holt and Co.
High Fantasy, Young Adult, Romance

Surrounded by enemies, the once-great nation of Ravka has been torn in two by the Shadow Fold, a swath of near impenetrable darkness crawling with monsters who feast on human flesh. Now its fate may rest on the shoulders of one lonely refugee. Alina Starkov has never been good at anything. But when her regiment is attacked on the Fold and her best friend is brutally injured, Alina reveals a dormant power that saves his life—a power that could be the key to setting her war-ravaged country free. Wrenched from everything she knows, Alina is whisked away to the royal court to be trained as a member of the Grisha, the magical elite led by the mysterious Darkling. Yet nothing in this lavish world is what it seems. With darkness looming and an entire kingdom depending on her untamed power, Alina will have to confront the secrets of the Grisha . . . and the secrets of her heart.

The wonderful feedback about this book is overwhelming. I’m just hoping that I would also enjoy the book as much as they’ve enjoyed it. From experience, some books just didn’t live up to its hype. Anyway, I’ll be reading it right after Tear You Apart. 🙂

I’ll try my best to squeeze the book this month for the sake of this meme. Wish me luck! Hey if you do have a Random Reads post, comment your link. I’ll try to check it out. 😀
