Question fo the WeekIf you could have dinner with your favorite character, who would it be?

My Answer

Jesus Christ! I have a lot. I can’t even begin to mentally list them all. Lol! Wait, I’ll go with Theron, the Prince Heir of Cordell from Snow Like Ashes of Sara Raasch. He’s all you need for a book boyfriend. I know a lot would agree with me. He’s a perfect gentleman. Sweet and always selfless. Not to mention, gorgeous. I tried looking for a fan art of him, but didn’t find any. Too bad. I would love to have a picnic dinner with him. Perhaps under the stars with fireflies flying by. Yay! That would be so romantic. Don’t you think? 😉

In this stunning bridge book between Cress and Winter in the bestselling Lunar Chronicles, Queen Levana’s story is finally told. Fans of the Lunar Chronicles know Queen Levana as a ruler who uses her “glamour” to gain power. But long before she crossed paths with Cinder, Scarlet, and Cress, Levana lived a very different story – a story that has never been told . . . until now.
— I’m so excited about this book. It felt like I’ve already waited ages for this one. Stunning cover isn’t it? I saw a GIF format of this book cover and it’s so amazing with the fire blazing.

Question of the Week

What is your Blogger’s New Year’s Resolution?

My Answer:

When I’ve read the question for this week, I stared at my PC for I think five minutes before it registered. I’ve never thought about a Blogger’s New Year’s Resolution really. This is pretty tough ’cause I don’t want to go listing things then eventually forget about them. Perhaps I need them tattooed on my forehead. That would be pretty. Lol! Anyway, here are some things that I would probably NEED to do so here are my Blogger’s New Year’s Resolutions..
+ TRY to not hoard books and finish my unread ones first. (With TRY being all caps Ü)
+ Post book reviews right after reading it so I won’t be behind of schedule.
+ Visit my friends’ blogs more often (I’m feeling like an awful friend already. Lol!)
+ Participate to Reading Challenges (I’m really hoping I could do this!)
+ I think I need to have a Blog Make-over. (Don’t you think? Ü)

Game of Thrones meets the Grimm’s fairy tales in this twisted, fast-paced romantic fantasy-adventure about Sleeping Beauty’s daughter, a warrior princess who must fight to reclaim her throne. Though she looks like a mere mortal, Princess Aurora is a fairy blessed with enhanced strength, bravery, and mercy yet cursed to destroy the free will of any male who kisses her. Disguised as a boy, she enlists the help of the handsome but also cursed Prince Niklaas to fight legions of evil and free her brother from the ogre queen who stole Aurora’s throne ten years ago. Will Aurora triumph over evil and reach her brother before it’s too late? Can Aurora and Niklaas break the curses that will otherwise forever keep them from finding their one true love?

Line

Hopefully, I’ll post two reviews (Imitation & Deviation. Finally.) before Sunday so I’ve decided to start reading this since I can’t wait any longer. I really love retellings so this would be a treat indeed. A lot of my friends have already read the book and they’ve found it so good. Anyway, here’s a five star, three star and one star review respectively. Got them from book lovers on Goodreads.

PRINCESS OF THORNS is a compelling read for any fairytale fan. It stitches several together (including Little Red Riding Hood) while still managing to do its own thing. Jay isn’t so devoted to nodding to tales that she forgets the story she wants to tell. It helps that her characters are not the half-sketched things of fairytales. Aurora, Niklaas, and the Ogre Queen are all forceful characters.

Reading Bingo│2014

Since I’m so lazy doing a recap of the books I’ve read this year, I’m so glad that I saw this from Emalie of BookGatherer. This looks a lot of fun. I may or may not do the recap in January
so I’ll do this instead. Hihi 😀 So, all we have to do is to dig up from the piles

Question of the Week

Do you have a book with a location that you just HAD to visit after reading the book?

My Answer:

I have a lot of those moments. Especially when I’ve read the Harry Potter series and The Darker Shade of Magic. Both of the book’s location is in London and I really want to go there if given a chance. I want to visit London’s King Cross Station and check for platform 9 3/4. Perhaps to try if I could go through. Lol! That would be awesome. They even had it marked and they also put up a shop for tourists. A lot of awesome Harry Potter goodies. 😀

Photos are from Collider

As for A Darker Shade of Magic, I want to go to the River Thames which is the people’s source of magic and walk through Westminster Bridge where the chase at a battle took place (If I’m not mistaken). I love how London is described on this book. Exceptionally dreamy that you would want to go there. Besides, who would not want to stroll along London? 😀 I have a lot of places from books that I want to visit, but these books’ world building were the first that came into my mind because they’re fascinating. 🙂

Until a month ago, eighteen-year-old Ven had never set foot outside the windowless warehouse where she was created. An Imitation of Raven Rogen, Ven spent her days confined in the lab, studying videos of her Authentic, all so she could step into Raven’s life at a moment’s notice.
Now, Ven lives in Raven’s penthouse apartment, kisses Raven’s boyfriend, and obeys every order from Raven’s dad, Titus Rogen—the very man who created her. But Ven has a secret plan. She doesn’t want Raven’s life. She wants her own.

Line

Haven’t actually finished Imitation and haven’t really had time to read, but I’m definitely excited to read this too. I just hope it will live up with the good reviews I’ve read from friends and fellow bloggers. I’ve requested this ARC from NetGalley and I’m so glad I was approved. Anyway, here’s a five star, three star and one star review respectively. Got them from book lovers on Goodreads.

This installment of the Clone Chronicles is filled with action and breath-holding moments that make you wanna scream! But if you’ve read Imitation then you should already expect your anxiety levels to rise anytime Titus Rogen is involved! Plan to spend a few consecutive hours on this one – you won’t be able to put it down!!

Question of the Week

Do you write a review for every book you read or only review copies from publishers?

My Answer:

I write reviews for ALL the books I read. Especially those I love. As of this time, I’ve only received a handful of review copies from publishers so most of the reviews I posted were books I picked for myself. Not that I’m complaining. As much as I love to post reviews for publishers, I still prefer to pick out books I really love ’cause what’s the point of accepting a review copy if you feel like you won’t enjoy it? I want reading to be a place where I can relax, to explore different worlds authors created and not to be harass about review deadlines. Haha! But I could certainly beg a publisher for a copy of the books I really wanted. Lol! Who would not? Tell me, just tell me you won’t do that too? 😀

Everyone is exactly like me. There is no one like me. Ven wrestles with these contradicting truths every day. A clone of wealthy eighteen-year-old Raven Rogen, Ven knows everything about the girl she was created to serve: the clothes she wears, the boys she loves, the friends she loves to hate. Yet she’s never met the Authentic Raven face-to-face. Imitations like Ven only get to leave the lab when they’re needed—to replace a dead Authentic, donate an organ, or complete a specific mission. And Raven has never needed Ven . . . until now. When there is an attack on Raven’s life, Ven is thrust into the real world, posing as Raven to draw out the people who tried to harm her. But as Ven dives deeper into Raven’s world, she begins to question everything she was ever told. She exists for Raven, but is she prepared to sacrifice herself for a girl she’s never met?

Line

I’ve planned to read this early next year, but then I was approved for an ARC for the second book on the series so I have to moved this ahead of schedule. Who read the second book before the first one huh? Lol. I’m reading this alongside A Thousand Pieces of You because the second book on this series will be released on the 30th of December. I really think I need to post the review before that right? 😀 This book caught me by the cover and the blurb. I can’t help thinking about this movie when I’ve read the blurb. Sounds very similar. Do tell. 😉

*THE ISLAND (2005 Film)
In 2019 a mercenary (Djimon Hounsou) pursues two clones (Ewan McGregor, Scarlett Johansson) who escaped from a research facility after learning their true fate.
The film’s plot revolves around the struggle of Ewan McGregor’s character to fit into the highly structured world he lives in, isolated in a compound, and the series of events that unfold when he questions how truthful that world really is. After he learns that the compound inhabitants are clones who are used for organ harvesting and surrogate motherhood for wealthy people in the outside world, he escapes.

What do you think? Sounds similar with a twist right? Hehe! Anyway, here’s a five star, three star and one star review respectively. Got them from book lovers on Goodreads.

Wow. Totally caught me by surprise. I was so into this story I didn’t realize it was about to end. Can’t wait for the next one. Ven is an imitation, a clone. Designed to stand in for her authentic when she’s needed. She was created to serve. Once on the outside everything she’s been told to believe is quickly turned upside down.

Question of the Week

How many books do you read in a week? How many hours do you spend reading a day?

My Answer:

This is the most heartbreaking question I’ve been asked. Lol. I used to read four to five books a week and spent half my day just reading and most likely blogging. It changed when I was accepted on a regular day job. I spend nine hours at work and around four hours commuting from and to our office. So imagine me being so busy for almost 13 hours a day. Where’s my reading time went? Of course I still need to eat, sleep, do mommy and housewife duties so really it’s a struggle now to look for my Me Time aka Reading Time. Nowadays, I can only read one to two books a week and spending at least an hour or two reading a day. Now I know you realized why it’s heartbreaking. Lol. Thank God for scheduled post since I’m devoting one of my days off from work to solely compose and schedule my memes every week and squeeze a review or two. So I suppose nobody’s going to ask me anymore why I’m reading on a snail pace. Bear with a working mom sweethearts! 😀
