Book Blogger Hop: Halloween Edition

This is from Billy of Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer

Question of the Week (Oct31-Nov6)

You can go trick-or-treating with any fictional character (book or film).
Who would you go with?

My Answer:

To be honest, as a kid I didn’t enjoy Trick-or-Treating because I’m such a scaredy cat. I’m easily frightened so dear Mom used to buy me costumes and give me LOTS of candies so I won’t feel bad not joining the other kids (not that I have a lonely childhood though). Anyway, there are many to choose from. I have so many book boyfriends and book BFFs too, but if I were to choose.. Hmm.. I’ll choose Carswell Thorne from The Lunar Chronicles. I love his sarcastic, funny and egotistical personality. He’s a lot of things, but boring is definitely not one of them. Though others would find him annoying, I still love him. I’m pretty sure we would scare a lot of kids and also charm them with his witty antics. I’ll have fun for sure. 😀

Who would you choose to go with? 🙂

Yeah. Especially those series that I got a hard time moving on when I’ve finally realized the series has come to an end.

I’m sorry, but I have to be brutally honest with this. I hate The Evolution of Mara Dyer.

Waiting on Wednesday #5

I’m not certain if I’ll be glad about this or what. Pretty torn. I must admit, I’m a little disappointed when I heard the news. The anticipation is killing me and then this happened. This week’s WOW feature would be a new book from my favorite, Marissa Meyer.

Mirror, mirror on the wall,

Who is the fairest of them all?

Fans of the Lunar Chronicles know Queen Levana as a ruler who uses her “glamour” to gain power. But long before she crossed paths with Cinder, Scarlet, and Cress, Levana lived a very different story – a story that has never been told . . . until now.

I’m not being bipolar and stuff, but I’m so thrilled when Marissa introduced her new masterpiece. Dated June 16, she posted a blog announcing the news. She will be having this full-length novel about the wicked tyrant of the Lunar Chronicles coming in January next year. The 27th of January 2015 to be exact. If you are wondering who she is, you must be living under a rock, sipping your pink lemonade and staring to nothingness. That could have been dull.

According to Marissa, Fairest will be delving into the back story of Queen Levana. It will start when she’s 15 years old and will cover about 10 years of her life, it will end about a decade before Cinder. They also confirmed that it will also feature the early version of Cinder and Winter as little children and a back story of the scientist, Dr. Erland.

Book Review: CRESS (The Lunar Chronicles #3)

I have finished reading the book, I think two weeks ago. Since I’ve started reading White Hot Kiss by Jennifer Armentrout, I’ve set aside doing the review, but I can’t just skip it or my life would not be completed. Exaggerated. Hah! I might include some spoilers on this if I can’t contain my enthusiasm about the book so there, if you haven’t read the book.. you’ve been warned.

Cress

In this third book in the bestselling Lunar Chronicles series, Cinder and Captain Thorne are fugitives on the run, with Scarlet and Wolf in tow. Together, they’re plotting to overthrow Queen Levana and prevent her army from invading Earth.

Their best hope lies with Cress, who has been trapped on a satellite since childhood with only her netscreens as company. All that screen time has made Cress an excellent hacker – unfortunately, she’s being forced to work for Queen Levana, and she’s just received orders to track down Cinder and her handsome accomplice.

When a daring rescue goes awry, the group is splintered. Cress finally has her freedom, but it comes at a higher price than she’d ever expected. Meanwhile, Queen Levana will let nothing prevent her marriage to Emperor Kai, especially the cyborg mechanic. Cress, Scarlet, and Cinder may not have signed up to save the world, but they may be the only hope the world has.

Waiting on Wednesday

I have been reading since God knows when. I practically started reading fairy tales like most kids do, but I doubt these days, say thank you for technology, kids prefer computer games rather than reading a book in a corner. Any books that you could think of, from Moby Dick, Dr. Seuss’ Green Eggs and Ham to the most latest children and young adult books at this time. I am no expert on books though, I just love to read. I usually prefer fantasy/fiction with a little bit of love angles as genre. I’ve never outgrown the “and they live happily ever after..” theme of Disney. That’s mainly the reason I’m into those. No offense to the fans of the Twilight series, but I can’t dig what’s so special about it. I can’t bring myself to read it especially when I’ve watched the movies. Perhaps I have read books way more interesting and lovable compared to it. I’m thinking of reading Game of Thrones though, by friends’ reviews. I’m not really into those books that so famous it looses its swag. I just don’t jump into bandwagons, I’m kind of adventurous when it comes to reading. I’m usually updated to new releases, thank heavens to Goodreads. 🙂

Speaking of Goodreads, I’m always checking it for the publishing dates of the books I am dying to read. Here are the list of the books I would trade anything to be published as soon as possible.

Let me start of by my recent favorite: The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare. According to Goodreads, City of Heavenly Fire, the 6th and final book’s publishing date would be on the 27th of May, 2014 so this would probably be an early birthday present for me. Exciting cover photo too. I highly recommend this series for those book lovers out there. Definitely a must read series. It wouldn’t be my favorite for no reason. I am also thinking of reading its extended series The Bane Chronicles, but I haven’t started it yet, I am caught up with an awesome list of books to read. I just wish I wouldn’t regret setting it aside for a while.
