Book Review: Opposition (Lux #5)

Opposition

Katy knows the world changed the night the Luxen came.

She can’t believe Daemon welcomed his race or stood by as his kind threatened to obliterate every last human and hybrid on Earth. But the lines between good and bad have blurred, and love has become an emotion that could destroy her—could destroy them all.

Daemon will do anything to save those he loves, even if it means betrayal.

They must team with an unlikely enemy if there is any chance of surviving the invasion. But when it quickly becomes impossible to tell friend from foe, and the world is crumbling around them, they may lose everything— even what they cherish most—to ensure the survival of their friends…and mankind.

War has come to Earth. And no matter the outcome, the future will never be the same for those left standing.

Now you can see them all together.

We last left Katy and Daemon as they just escaped from the research center in Arizona and after they revealed to the world that they are aliens in Las Vegas. Now, they are on the run and looking to not get caught and taken in.

Reading a series’ finale is bittersweet. Especially if it’s something you love. Especially if the book is about Daemon Black. Sigh. I’ve waited for this for a year, I believe, and I’ve read it for I think three days more or less. I really took my time. I don’t want to say goodbye to the series. Just yet. Sniff. Anyway, I was quite surprised how the story turned out. When I’ve finished Origin, I was thinking how Jennifer would pull off the finale. I’m scared for her actually. In most cases, alien invasion is not something that you could easily throw in without thinking on how you can come back to that. Surprisingly, Jennifer did a great job! This is one epic series! I can’t think of any other way this series could have ended. This is just so perfect. In everything. The writing. The twists. The resolution. The romance. The friendship. The villains. The epilogue. Oh the epilogue. Did I already mention THE Romance? Ha! Ha! This never failed to surprise me all the freaking time.

I’m sorry, but I set aside Shatter by Tahereh Mafi for this. I’m so jealous about people reading it and posting reviews; I’m feeling like a whole lot of loser because I wasn’t expecting that I’ll be receiving the book this soon. Excited is an understatement really. I literally squealed the moment I got my hands on this. I’ve been waiting for this for ages. I’m actually half way through it I believe and I must say I’m torn. Knowing that this is the final book of this series saddened me. I’ll definitely miss my Daemon. Okay. I’m going to miss them all. Especially my Daemon. Did I just repeat that? Ha! Ha!

Waiting on Wednesday #4

Waiting in vain. I have been waiting for this and it feels like ages since I have read the last book from this series. I’m quite so drawn in rereading all of them in fact. I’m featuring the last book from the series The Heroes of Olympus for my WOW post this week.

The Blood of Olympus (The Heroes of Olympus #5)

Though the Greek and Roman crewmembers of the “Argo II” have made progress in their many quests, they still seem no closer to defeating the earth mother, Gaea. Her giants have risen-all of them, and they’re stronger than ever. They must be stopped before the Feast of Spes, when Gaea plans to have two demigods sacrificed in Athens. She needs their blood-the blood of Olympus-in order to wake.
The demigods are having more frequent visions of a terrible battle at Camp Half-Blood. The Roman legion from Camp Jupiter, led by Octavian, is almost within striking distance. Though it is tempting to take the Athena Parthenos to Athens to use as a secret weapon, the friends know that the huge statue belongs back on Long Island, where it “might” be able to stop a war between the two camps.
The Athena Parthenos will go west; the “Argo II” will go east. The gods, still suffering from multiple personality disorder, are useless. How can a handful of young demigods hope to persevere against Gaea’s army of powerful giants? As dangerous as it is to head to Athens, they have no other option. They have sacrificed too much already. And if Gaea wakes, it is game over.

I’m not pretty sure how to begin with this as I’m so overwhelmed about the idea of having a book review about City of Heavenly Fire. That familiar mixed emotions again. Sure, I’m so familiar with it, but still, heartbreaking. Heartbreaking that this would be the last book. Though I know there would be another series that Clare is doing and it’s like an extension of this; I can’t help to be woeful. On the other hand, I’m so happy that I’ve got to read the last installment of this series. Finally. As in, at last. I’m being bipolar again, I guess. Yeah. I know. Can’t help it.

I love how the book is written. It is not written as I expected for it is more fascinating. It feels like that you’ve been taken away to a dimension that’s so real. So real I forgot that it’s from a book. I love the Shadowhunter world. Every little details of it; that I want to have runes tattooed on me too. This series will always be an obsession to me. A favorite. I adore how Clare have written everything because the series is beyond amazing. Yeah, I have my own share of disappointments from the previous books, but this book have rubbed them out.
