Weekly Photo Challenge: Express Yourself

Weekly Photo Challenge is hosted by The Daily Post,
where we publish a new post with a photo interpreting the weekly theme..

Color Me Rainbow

This week’s theme is:

EXPRESS YOURSELF

Today, we challenge you to show us what “express yourself” means to you. It could be the delightful, gummy grin of a baby grand-nephew, a message of love written with a biplane in the sky, the clenched fist of anger and frustration, or even a lunch with an attitude.

Express myself? A rainbow would truly express my personality. I could be a different color each minute. Not that I’m a moody type of a person though. My friends would always tell me that I have a colorful frame of mind and I’m never dull so I think this photo would really express who I am. Plus hubby always tell me that I’m usually sweet so that explains the chocolate. Hihi! 😀

“Be uniquely you. Stand out. Shine. Be colorful.
The world needs your prismatic soul!”

The Oven-Baked Flat Bread

aka PIZZA.. I’ve been eating unhealthy stuff lately. Blame it to work that I rarely cook and shamelessly been ordering food. I’ve read a blog about the most delivered food and guess what? Pizza tops the list. Sigh. I’ve been ordering pizza these days. In every variety possible. My favorite is from a local pizza stand two blocks from home. It’s not even from those fancy pizza restaurants that you could have guessed. I couldn’t even remember the name for Christ’s sake. Which remind me that I need to check its name. Ha! Ha! I’m stupid like that. Sorry. 🙂

Here’s something I had for dinner..

Ham, Bacon and Cheese Overload

I shared it with Hubby if you’re thinking I’ve wolfed it on my own. Oh hello Calories! 🙂

“Now, leave.”
All three boys slumped forward.

Percy fell face-first into his pizza.
“Percy!” Annabeth grabbed him.”

Rick Riordan, The Mark of Athena

I also want to fall face-first on my pizza. Ha! Ha!

Book Recommendation: All Four Stars

I have always been a fan of Children’s and Middle Grade books and when I saw this on my recommendation list? I fell in love instantaneously. It’s like finally getting the pet that you have been wishing for your entire life. Yet I don’t have my copy yet. I’m weird like that.

Gladys Gatsby has been cooking gourmet dishes since the age of seven, only her fast-food-loving parents have no idea! Now she’s eleven, and after a crème brûlée accident (just a small fire), Gladys is cut off from the kitchen (and her allowance). She’s devastated but soon finds just the right opportunity to pay her parents back when she’s mistakenly contacted to write a restaurant review for one of the largest newspapers in the world.

But in order to meet her deadline and keep her dream job, Gladys must cook her way into the heart of her sixth-grade archenemy and sneak into New York City—all while keeping her identity a secret! Easy as pie, right?

Kisses on a Chocolate

I tried searching Google for a word that would define someone who loves desserts when I’ve stumbled upon a page that says:

What do you call a person that loves sweets?

Hey guys… I’m not a native english speaker and I want to know if there is some cute name for a person who loves to eat chocolates, candies and all kinds of sweet stuff… Thanks!

Answers:

  1. Sweetaholic
  2. Sugar-junky
  3. FAT

I literally laugh out loud at the third answer. How could somebody be so cruel? Ha! Ha! Anyway, people could call me anything they want, but that won’t stop me from being a sweet tooth. Here’s something I had this morning. Really made my day! 😃

Let’s put S to Dessert

I have been browsing my Instagram and blog feed for desserts I would love to try for the Foodie part of my blog since I haven’t explored new food joints for God knows when. I’m caught up in reading pretty much all the time and work, of course. Yeah. Lame. So I’ll just go daydreaming and feeling jealous about these mouth watering goodness that’s all over my feed.

Class 302This is from Class 302, which is an authentic Taiwanese place from California. Not your plain crispy cream puff though. It comes with a cream tube that you’ll have the pleasure of squeezing cream right into your puff. Pretty fun right? And, yummy too! Got it from IPhoneSeeFood.

Mahogany Market’s Bulalo : Birthday Trip III

We left Sonya’s Garden with hungry tummies so as we’ve initially planned, we’ll indulge to the most famous dish in town. Yes to Bulalo (Beef Shanks or Bone Marrow Soup)! It’s a Filipino dish wherein beef shanks and marrow bones are boiled until the fat has melted into the clear broth or soup. Not healthy eh? Trying sinful food once in while won’t hurt. 😉

Again. We really didn’t have an idea where to get the best one so with the help of locals, we decided to check out Mahogany Market. At first, we considered trying Leslie’s since that’s a known place for trying out Bulalo in Tagaytay, but I’ve read blogs that it tends to be pricey and there were a lot of places where you could get the same taste for a much affordable price.

From Sonya’s we took a jeepney ride to Tagaytay’s Rotunda, only to find out that we should’ve taken the jeepneys taking left from Sky Ranch so it was like we have gone in circles. By the time we’ve found Mahogany Market, we were already famished. We’ve squeezed ourselves through the throng of people shopping and just plainly strolling around. Since it is literally a market, a lot of people were to be expected. The market was lined with stalls to try Bulalo, but I’m looking for a specific stall which I’ve read from a blog (reading blogs is so useful! 😊)

It is not your usual fine dining so don’t expect much. It is situated in front of a parking lot, tables and chairs were strategically placed in front of each stall so it is not on an air conditioned place. Good thing is, there were girls who attended to our needs when we were already seated.

Certified Baconatics

I woke up today feeling utterly craving for bacon. I can eat bacon forever. I once watched a television program called The United States of Food with Chef Todd Fisher, I think, featuring a special episode where he traveled around the United States and tried dishes having bacon to be the main ingredient. That’s the first thing that came into my mind. How I remember drooling while watching it. Just recalling it makes me want to drool again. Like bacon had me hypnotized. This is so unreal.

Don’t mind the premiere time because I believe the premiere of this TV show was July of 2012, if I’m not mistaken. I’m not pretty sure if this is still being aired on TLC.

  • He’d gone to Slaters 50/50 in Huntington Beach, California and tried their famous B’ B’ B’ Bacon

It has 100% bacon patty, ground up beef-style grilled on an open flame, a pile of bacon, toasted fresh bacon pretzel bun, layers of bacon American cheese, a sunny side up egg and tapped with creamy bacon island dressing. The burger is impaled with a steak knife so you can slice it up since I’m not certain how it will fit your mouth. Oh. God. Heaven.

Trying on Snapseed..

I’m recently inspired to do street and food photography after meeting an awesome friend, Jermaine, via Instagram, Whopianomedia. I swear his feed is truly amazing. I have also featured his Instagram account on one of my recent posts, My Top Foodies on Instagram, so I must say that he inspired me a lot really. After trying out so many applications to enhance my photos, I have stumbled upon an application that he is also using, Snapseed. I’m not pretty sure if Snapseed has been in the business for long because I would definitely feel a whole lot of loser if I just came across with it. It’s a pain in the A at first since I’m clueless on how to use it, but then as cliche as it is.. practice makes perfect. Well, not really perfect since I’m still getting the hang of it.

I have tried it on food shots:

My Top Foodies on Instagram

Instagram brought me to this place wherein photography mixes with my love for food. I have been a photographer wanna be for as long as I can remember and lack for financial support on this little hobby of mine frustrates me more. Have not even had a decent camera ever so I am left to make so much out of my cheapanggang mobile phone. Thank heavens for applications wherein you can edit your photos and enhance them like a pro (That would be discuss on a different post. ).

I have met several people on Instagram whose accounts are to die for, they’re travelers and foodies. I’m dead serious about me saying that their accounts are a must browse and because of their amazing photos, my feed looks like a menu on a high end restaurant. It’s a plus that they’re actually following back and replying to comments posted on their photos. I will be just posting a couple of them, not necessarily my favorites though because believe me I had a hard time choosing among their awesome photos. Ready for their snippets? Drum roll please.. 🙂

1. WHOPIANOMEDIA

I learned that he is a fellow Filipino who’s currently residing in California. He’s an autoCAD technician and a big eater for real. Mafia style. LOL! :))

“My only day to venture around Seattle..it was only right for me to find the most reviewed breakfast spot on yelp. Came across Toulouse Petit, a Cajun/creole joint. Table for one please. Chowin down on a oyster & bacon benedict.

Happy 2nd Birthday to my Blog! Ü

Three days ago marked the 2nd birthday of my blog! Well, this specific blog since I have a couple of other blogs from different websites before. It has been 2 years of memories and fun! Though my stats have fluctuated this past few months, that did not bother me at all since I consider this as my public journal and it’s not like a Facebook status where you expect a viewer to like it or comment on it. I have always kept my blog posts positive since I want this to be my memory keeper; those memories that I can back read and smile. I am so over those days that I had to keep them on a notebook! Thanks for technology!

I have gathered some photos from my previous blogs which commonly depict my personality and what mostly composed my blog.

  • Adventures

I have always love the sea and kayaking on an open sea is a dream come true Ü (Our Rainy Summer Adventure)
