Cara always knew life on planet L’eihr would be an adjustment. With Aelyx, her L’eihr boyfriend, back on Earth, working to mend the broken alliance between their two planets, Cara is left to fend for herself at a new school, surrounded by hostile alien clones. Even the weird dorm pet hates her.
Things look up when Cara is appointed as human representative to a panel preparing for a human colony on L’eihr. A society melding their two cultures is a place where Cara and Aelyx could one day make a life together. But with L’eihr leaders balking at granting even the most basic freedoms, Cara begins to wonder if she could ever be happy on this planet, even with Aelyx by her side.
Meanwhile, on Earth, Aelyx, finds himself thrown into a full-scale PR campaign to improve human-L’eihr relations. Humans don’t know that their very survival depends on this alliance: only Aelyx’s people have the technology to fix the deadly contamination in the global water supply that human governments are hiding. Yet despite their upper hand, the leaders of his world suddenly seem desperate to get humans on their side, and hardly bat an eye at extremists’ multiple attempts on Aelyx’s life. The Way clearly needs humans’ help . . . but with what? And what will they ask for in return?

I believe I’ve already waited for ages to have this book and yet it’s only December. This book will be released February next year though. Still two months away more or less. I really want this since I enjoyed its first book which is Alienated despite of negative reviews I’ve read. Enjoyed the cuteness and the humor so I’m definitely waiting for Invaded. Can’t look it up on Netgalley though.

I recalled joining a giveaway last October and I’m pretty sure I didn’t win (Too Bad!) so I’ve looked for a new giveaway. Luckily they have released a new giveaway and as I’ve read, this would be the last. Let’s keep our fingers crossed and hope I’ll win this time. 😀 Click the book cover to join!

My Week in a Wrapped #5

SundayPost

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received. Share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

It has been a busy week since I’m trying my best to juggle everything. Work, reading and a lot of other things. So much to do with so little time. Fortunately, I was able to fit them all. I was able to finished Winterspell, started and finished The Strange & Beautiful Sorrows of Ava Lavender for my October Random Reads and currently reading The Iron Trial. Work’s still a bit tough on schedule and really tiring, but I was able to accomplished a lot in all fairness. I’m so proud of myself. LOL! Anyway, the highlight of my week was that I got a day off from work for my son’s 12th birthday. Since it falls right after his actual birth date, I didn’t have much time to prepare for the celebration. We just had a nice and super fun dinner with the whole family. Here’s a photo of my birthday boy, Heaven Alessandre ♥

Alie's 12th

Isn’t he such a cutie? 😀 He’s growing up pretty fast. Refusing to hold hands with me in public now. Sniff. Next year, he’ll enter a new pace of his life, which is being teen and I’m really hoping that I could turn back those days that he’s still in his diapers. Oh wait! I’m being emotional now. It seems like I’m getting old too. LOL. How’s your week? 😀

The romantic sequel to Alienated takes long-distance relationships to a new level as Cara and Aelyx long for each other from opposite ends of the universe…until a threat to both their worlds reunites them.

I wanted to feature this on WOW, but I’m thinking it’s way too early since this will be published February next year and I have a lot of books to feature first. I’ve looked for updates, but found nothing interesting as of the time being except of course for an autographed ARC giveaway of Invaded which made me squealed. I’ve found one before, but unfortunately the winners were already selected.

Book Review: Alienated (Alienated #1)

Two years ago, the aliens made contact. Now Cara Sweeney is going to be sharing a bathroom with one of them.
Handpicked to host the first-ever L’eihr exchange student, Cara thinks her future is set. Not only does she get a free ride to her dream college, she’ll have inside information about the mysterious L’eihrs that every journalist would kill for. Cara’s blog following is about to skyrocket. Still, Cara isn’t sure what to think when she meets Aelyx. Humans and L’eihrs have nearly identical DNA, but cold, infuriatingly brilliant Aelyx couldn’t seem more alien. She’s certain about one thing, though: no human boy is this good-looking.
But when Cara’s classmates get swept up by anti-L’eihr paranoia, Midtown High School suddenly isn’t safe anymore. Threatening notes appear in Cara’s locker, and a police officer has to escort her and Aelyx to class.
Cara finds support in the last person she expected. She realizes that Aelyx isn’t just her only friend; she’s fallen hard for him. But Aelyx has been hiding the truth about the purpose of his exchange, and its potentially deadly consequences. Soon Cara will be in for the fight of her life—not just for herself and the boy she loves, but for the future of her planet.

LinethoughtsI may have not put so much faith on this book, but hey I like it. Remember when I was so uncertain to read it because of a nearly unanimous discouraging reviews about the book? Yes. The concept and plot is pretty worn out. You know, the usual. Girl meets unusual boy. Romance forbidden. You and me against the world. Stereotype, but then again I was drawn to it. I agree that it’s not really a hard core SciFi book that you would expect it is or maybe not yet, and that’s where disappointments pour through. Cmon. You don’t expect a book to be SciFi just by the mere mention of an Alien. You’re not stupid like that. Are you?

Somehow, there’s something interesting about how it is written. Those kinds of books that won’t let you feel that this is another book you could read when there’s nothing else to read. Like you have no choice, but to read it. Just for the sake of having something to pass your time with. It’s a feel good book. Light, humorous and brilliant in fact though it started in a slow pace.
