My Week in a Wrapped #2

SundayPost

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received. Share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

Got a three-day leave from work and guess what I did. Vacation? No. I slept all day and tried out recipes I found on Google. Fortunately, they turned out OKAY. Not really perfect, but tolerable. LOL! It was a nice feeling to finally have the time to rummaged the kitchen and threw away things that got spoiled and organized everything again.

It was just so refreshing having to wake up in the morning without worrying about work for a change. Not setting the alarm before I sleep and just snuggle up in bed as long as I want the next morning. A break I really needed. I have also tweaked the format of my blog. Not the entire blog really, but how I post each. Like a post layout. Got a refresher for my rusty HTML skills. If you are a long time reader of this blog, you’ll notice the difference. 😀

In the Labyrinth, we had a saying: keep silent, keep still, keep safe.
In a city of walls and secrets, where only one man is supposed to possess magic, seventeen-year-old Kai struggles to keep hidden her own secret—she can manipulate the threads of time. When Kai was eight, she was found by Reev on the riverbank, and her “brother” has taken care of her ever since. Kai doesn’t know where her ability comes from—or where she came from. All that matters is that she and Reev stay together, and maybe one day move out of the freight container they call home, away from the metal walls of the Labyrinth. Kai’s only friend is Avan, the shopkeeper’s son with the scandalous reputation that both frightens and intrigues her.
Then Reev disappears. When keeping silent and safe means losing him forever, Kai vows to do whatever it takes to find him. She will leave the only home she’s ever known and risk getting caught up in a revolution centuries in the making. But to save Reev, Kai must unravel the threads of her past and face shocking truths about her brother, her friendship with Avan, and her unique power.

If you have read my Currently Reading post about this book, you might have an idea of what concerns me the most. For those who have not read it yet, I’ll give you an overview. Well, you see I am a fan of Emily May and I consider -but not always- her reviews on books we’re both interested in. I usually do that. Read reviews first and mull over why they like it or not. Then, write my own as to how I felt about the book. Going back to Emily. Well, she didn’t like this book and I think, now I know why.

Teaser Tuesday #12

I’ve decided to join this ’cause I think it’s pretty fun and easy. Plus I really want to quote smart retorts, full blown bullying, words of wisdom, swoon worthy lines and the like without giving much to readers about the entire book. A quote or two won’t hurt I guess. So this is how you do it:

  1. Grab your current read.
  2. Randomly open a page.
  3. Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page.
  4. BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (Make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
  5. Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

This is for this week’s Teaser Tuesday:

Gates of Thread and Stone

by Lori M. Lee

“Becoming the Kahl’s dog, especially if this man had lived originally in the East Quarter, was a betrayal of the unspoken code of the Labyrinth.”

“It was impossible to see beyond the flat, dry earth illuminated by the energy stone. Avan checked the map every once in a while to make sure we have not gone off course, but we could have been anywhere and nowhere.”

I’ll be out for three days to get some much needed rest away from work and I’m not sure if I can update my blog, but I’ll be back soon enough to reply to all of you. Yay! Anyway, you could share some teasers on your current read too. Comment the link of your own Teaser Tuesday so I can check it out and have an idea of amazing books that I would want to read.

I’m so excited that I’m reading this at last. Finally. I’ve started reading it and in fact the book excites me to read more. Love the idea that the main character is a time manipulator. Hmm.. I will just leave all my thoughts for the book review. Anyway, I’ve read so many good reviews and some of the not so good reviews too which really broke my heart.

Let’s have the good reviews first:

My Week in a Wrapped #1

I’ve just recently joined this meme ’cause it sounds a lot of fun. Plus a lot of my blogger friends joined in so I’ll do my best to update this every Sunday of the week. 😀

We have undergone APE or Annual Physical Exam as part of being employed and to make sure that we are still fit to work as per company policy last Thursday. I hate the idea. Especially the lab part and the actual physical exam. I understand this is for my own good, but can you imagine someone else checking your breast for lumps and sticking a finger right up your ass? Sorry for the language. I felt so violated. LOL!  My arm where the nurse took blood sample is still bruised after two days. I don’t have a clue, but somehow I think she doesn’t know what she’s doing. It hurts pretty bad. I’m really glad I survived it and it’s an annual thing.

That’s one bunch of awesomeness there. Who would not be excited?

Yeah. I’m literally doing this happy dance or is this Hula? Ha! Ha!

I only have one major problem. Which one to read first? You can help me by casting your vote. 😀

Waiting on Wednesday #9

Here’s another series on debut that I’m eagerly waiting for. I’m not so certain if this is Lori’s first series though, but I really think that this is going to be an interesting read so I’m pretty excited.
