The past week was all work, work and a lot of work. Nothing really new except for a new game I downloaded on my phone that’s been eating most of my spare time, other than reading of course. And guess what? I have also created an account on Net Galley. Yes. After years of reading I finally created my account. Loser I know. LOL! I need advice from you guys on how publishers could accept my requests since I’ve sent tons, but none of them was accepted. I don’t know. I was so upset when I’ve received emails confirming that none of them was approved. Perhaps I could edit my profile and say stuff. Sigh. I don’t have any idea on how to make it work so maybe you guys can give me tips and whatnot. I also want to know if there are books that’s already available for download so I could check them out. I’m really hoping you guys can help me out with this. Please. PRETTY PLEASE! 😀

Though it is tempting to take the Athena Parthenos to Athens to use as a secret weapon, the friends know that the huge statue belongs back on Long Island, where it “might” be able to stop a war between the two camps.
The Athena Parthenos will go west; the Argo II will go east. The gods, still suffering from multiple personality disorder, are useless. I can say composing this review is bittersweet. Have you ever felt like that when your favorite series finally ends? Oh I bet we all did. All. The. Time. After a long week of juggling work and reading this book, finally, I’ve finished it and I’m feeling mixed emotions, I feel for the Gods’ schizo mania.

So much for my review’s introduction. Well, I must admit I got a little disappointed when I’ve scanned the chapters and didn’t find Percy and Annabeth’s name on it. I figured Percy Jackson and the Olympians starred Percy and Annabeth and The Heroes of Olympus starred Jason, Piper, Reyna, Nico and Leo.

There’s nothing worth sharing this past week. It has been slow like my reading progress. Argh. Caught up in work like the usual and reading in between it. Got to spend time with friends from the grave yard shift since I left the office really late Tuesday night because the traffic was unbearable. Thank God for Twitter, I was informed ahead of time about it. What else? Hmm.. Oh yeah. I got pissed because I initially requested to have a vacation leave from work the 20th this month because of my son’s birthday, but eventually approved for the 21st. How ridiculous is that? Who celebrates their birthday a day after? Sigh. We used to celebrate it on the exact date every year and that will not be the case this time. It makes me sad that I’ll be at work on my son’s special day.

One more thing, I got Blood of Olympus so I set aside Winterspell for now so sorry for all my friends who are eagerly waiting for a Winterspell book review. It would be moved probably next week.

He even had that old man smell — mothballs and chicken soup. How was that possible?
He’d gone from sixteen to seventy-five in a matter of seconds, but the old man smell happened instantly, like BOOM! Congratulations! You stink!”

Yeah. I know. This is not nearly “First sentence (or so)”. First paragraph, perhaps. I couldn’t help it. If I could just copy the whole book here. Why not? LOL. Anyway, initial thoughts. Hmm.. When I’ve read this, I immediately felt worried about Jason and really thinking “What on Earth Mother happened to him?”.

It’s the 7th of October for God’s sake! Oh. God. Oh. God. I have it! AT LAST! I’m so excited and I can’t believe it. Okay. I’m hyperventilating or perhaps just exaggerating. LOL! Sorry. I have to set aside Winterspell for this. I’ve waited for this for ages and there’s no way I’m not reading it now. 😀

Book Review: Percy Jackson’s Greek Gods

A publisher in New York asked me to write down what I know about the Greek gods, and I was like, Can we do this anonymously? Because I don’t need the Olympians mad at me again. But if it helps you to know your Greek gods, and survive an encounter with them if they ever show up in your face, then I guess writing all this down will be my good deed for the week.’ So begins Percy Jackson’s Greek Gods, in which the son of Poseidon adds his own magic–and sarcastic asides–to the classics. He explains how the world was created, then gives readers his personal take on a who’s who of ancients, from Apollo to Zeus. Percy does not hold back. ‘If you like horror shows, blood baths, lying, stealing, backstabbing, and cannibalism, then read on, because it definitely was a Golden Age for all that.’ Dramatic full-color illustrations throughout by Caldecott Honoree John Rocco make this volume–a must for home, library, and classroom shelves–as stunning as it is entertaining.

My my my.. Uncle Rick did it again. Honestly, I’ve read tons of books about mythology and despite of loving the idea, a reader would need a lot of patience on a regular myth book since most of them are confusing. This book made mythology an easy read and not just easy, it’s so freaking hilarious. I can’t remember how many times I literally laugh out loud. I really love the book. The illustrations are so gorgeous. Kudos to John Rocco! His illustrations are so well done. He is one brilliant artist!

I think I really need to write an apology letter to Mafi since I have set aside Shatter Me. Again. I’m not certain, but I really got jaded. I don’t think I would continue reading it in the meantime and guess what I’ve received just now? A companion book from my all time favorite series. Oh. God. I want to cry. Percy Jackson’s Greek Gods. That would be tears of joy for that matter. I couldn’t explain how happy I was staring at the book for like an hour or so before it really sinks in that I have this. I want to marry it. Gee.. I’m a lunatic! Sorry for freaking you guys out. Ha! Ha! I’m just so thrilled. This just makes me longing for The Blood of Olympus more. I died.
